We understand that when you are organising a short break, with family or friends, it is difficult to think of everything – so we have gathered some useful information and practical tips, to help make your stay at dove farm, run as smoothly as possible.  Dove farm is in the village of Ellastone, between Ashbourne and Uttoxeter.  

Trains

Nearest train station to Dove Farm , is the small, un-manned station in Uttoxeter, ST14 8  UK

Train services from London

The nearest mainline station is Derby.  Derby is well served by East Midlands Trains, with two train services every hour to London. Modern Meridian trains run to London St Pancras International, with journey times from just 1 hour 33 minutes. There is a new hourly service from Derby to Chesterfield and Sheffield.

Derby train connections

You can travel from Derby train station to Sheffield, Leicester, Nottingham, East Midlands Parkway and Matlock in around 30 minutes. A Skylink bus service from Derby train station connects directly to East Midlands Airport.

IIf you are meeting someone in Derby, it will normally take you about 35 mins to reach dove farm, taking the A52 route out of Derby, direction Ashbourne. If you are doing this journey on a Friday evening, it will take you at least 45 minutes – whether you are going to the station or away from it, because you have to go through the town centre.

Taxis and private hire vehicles

If you are arriving at Uttoxeter station, do not expect a taxi to be there. Sometimes there will be one, other times not.  Better to book ahead.

You may need a taxi to pick up a member of your party from the train station, or hire a people carrier/ mini-bus, so your group can have a relaxed evening out, during your stay at Dove farm holiday cottages. Sometimes,  the demands of modern living mean that you want to do your food shopping online and have your shopping delivered to  the cottages.  Sainsburys and Tesco both deliver to dove farm. (link to find us page)

If the driver puts postcode only into sat nav, it will only take them as far as Dove Street.

Both these veterinary practices are very good, with caring staff and a professional service. Blenheim is slightly out of town, with good parking. McMurtry and Harding, is right in the centre of Ashbourne –  you will need to park on a side street, or across the road on the Market place.
