Donkeys and goats at dove farm
No stay on a farm, or farm holiday, is complete without meeting some animal friends. You can rely on the donkeys and goats to make friends, because they always want food or fuss, and sometimes both!
The dove farm donkeys
At the moment, we have two donkeys at dove farm: Danny boy, a lovely chocolate coloured donkey, who we rescued, and Izzy – who has become his special girlfriend.

Donkeys are different to horses and ponies, but the one thing they have in common with most equines, is that they love to spend time with people. They thrive on love and attention. Guests may wish to groom the donkeys, and maybe spend some time helping out with their training , or taking them on a walk.
The donkey sanctuary based in Devon, is a great source of information on everything to do with donkeys, and will deal with all concerns regarding the welfare of any donkeys reported to them. If you want to visit more donkeys during your stay at dove farm, why not show your support for the donkey sanctuary’s Derbyshire centre.
Goats
They are without doubt, the most mischievous and troublesome animals on the farm. They always want to be somewhere different to where you put them, and they can escape from almost anywhere!

Joe the Golden Guernsey, is our “main man”. He is a rare breed goat and a rare character too. He is gentle and friendly. He loves to go with us, when we take the dogs out for a walk.
He also likes going in houses too, if he gets the chance, so be warned! We also have 2 little cross-breed female goats with kids – though we may need to find good homes soon , for some of our growing herd of goats. www.allgoats.com is a good source of information about different breeds of goats.
