Spacious, self-catering family accommodation to sleep 7 at Dove farm. Additional bed space for a child in family room, bringing capacity to 8. For groups of singles, it is useful to know, there are 7 separate beds in this property. Located on the Staffordshire Derbyshire border, between Ashbourne and Uttoxeter, close to Alton Towers. Guests who prefer to avoid stairs, or who have limited mobility, will appreciate the ground floor twin bedroom with adjacent wet room/disabled friendly shower room/WC. Good sized, well equipped kitchen with dining table. Separate living room. Usually booked as a group of cottages with Swallow and Wren cottages for weekend breaks and short breaks for groups. Wheelchair users and those guests with limited mobility who are part of a larger group can easily move between the different cottages. Barn Owl cottage may be booked separately, subject to availability. Individual holiday cottage rental usually available or short midweek breaks.
Whilst Barn Owl cottage has not been assessed for the national accessibility scheme, we have incorporated certain features to make it a more user-friendly cottage for those guests with limited mobility.
The ground floor is accessible for wheelchair users, and those guests with limited mobility. The shower room is generously sized with plenty of turning space for a wheelchair user. The tiled floor is level with grab rails in the showering area.The toilet is a comfort height WC. Adjustable fit around frame is available, if required. Pedestal washbasin is standard height and to the right (user’s perspective.)
The kitchen does not have adaptations for use by disabled guests. The table which is lower than the worktops, may be used as a work surface. Electric sockets throughout the property are positioned between 84cm and 90 cm from the floor. Light switches are positioned 110 cm from the floor.
Internal doorways are set to a standard external specification of 33 inches, making this a wheelchair accessible cottage for most users.
